The Confederation of Democratic Simulators

About

Second Life is the ultimate libertarian dream — a vast ‘frontier land’, without law and order, where no one is able to enforce their will upon others, except through a mutual agreement, that you can break at any time without fear of repercussions. This is, for many, an utopian paradise. Be what you want to be — as careless as you want to be — you’re anonymous (or pseudonymous), and you’re free to do what you want to do.

For others this is just a nightmare.

The Confederation of Democratic Simulators (CDS) is the only self-governed region in the whole of Second Life. It has its own democratically elected government and judiciary. By becoming a citizen — all it requires is for you to buy a parcel in the land! — you have a vote and are able to be elected for government.

Regions in the CDS are differently themed, but the government is only one — the same Constitution applies, as does the same Code of Law. But it’s not written on stone — it can be changed by any citizen; all it requires is to pass a bill at the Representative Assembly :) And any citizen is entitled to participate in that process.

The judiciary also works to settle disputes — under a fair and impartial system where you have always the option to appeal. All this is possible because inside the CDS things can be enforced.
